cotov art - Bio
Cotov was born in Puerto Montt, in the south of Chile—Patagonia land shaped by, forests, and a deep connection to nature. His first artistic spark came from his older brother, who introduced him to drawing during childhood. Although he never studied art formally, he developed as a fully self-taught artist.
After graduating, he spent a year traveling through Chile, Peru, and Ecuador. It was his first experience expanding his mural and illustration work beyond Chile, connecting with artists and communities that reshaped his vision and creative identity.
Back in Chile, he settled in Santiago and opened his first art studio. He participated in fairs, exhibitions, and urban art projects, and won first place in a national painting contest organized by Librería Nacional.

ARKI II is an acrylic painting on 100% cotton paper, measuring 9.7 × 27.6 in.
This work is part of the literary–visual project THE ARKI, where imagery and narrative intertwine to explore symbolic journeys, inner architecture, and mythic landscapes.
His mural practice and paintings took him to Mexico, where he joined art residencies, mural projects, and collaborations with mexican communities. He later traveled through Europe as a digital nomad, painting murals and building artistic connections. He eventually returned to Mexico to continue creating and exploring artistic projects.
